In December 2019, Warri, the heartbeat of Delta State, was set agog with one of the most remarkable and culturally enriching events the entire South South region has ever witnessed: The Rich and Famous Fest. Organized by the vibrant and ever-energetic Mr. Jollof through his platform, Doings TV, the festival was a multi-faceted extravaganza that brought together the rich culture of Delta State, a diverse marketplace of creativity and entrepreneurship, and an unforgettable entertainment experience. It was more than just a festival – it was a celebration of Warri’s essence, its people, and its potential.

Over time there has been a wide spread misconception that Warri is a city of crime and notoriety, and this notion is what The Rich and Famous Fest sought to correct. Warri is a city that generates astronomical revenue for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Its people are peace-loving, energetic, innovative and creative people. Mr Jollof was also pained that the average Warri youth brags about his/her right to Oil and as such strived to change the narrative by promoting small businesses and encouraging the youths to look beyond oil. He was dedicated to showcasing the incredible potential of Delta to the world and empower entrepreneurs with knowledge and opportunities for growth.
This is what birth the Rich and Famous Fest.

Warri – A Cultural Gem

Warri, known for its rich heritage, diversity, and deep-rooted traditions, provided the perfect backdrop for the Rich and Famous Fest. Delta State, as a whole, is a melting pot of culture, with its vibrant diverse communities each contributing to its colorful tapestry. The festival was a reflection of this rich cultural diversity, creating a space where the old met the new, and where tradition stood alongside modern entertainment.

From traditional dances that showcased the skill and grace of Delta’s finest performers to the mouth-watering local dishes like Banga soup and starch, attendees were given a taste of everything that makes Warri truly special. The pulsating rhythm of local drummers echoed through the air, blending seamlessly with the contemporary beats of Nigerian afrobeats that dominated the festival's afterparty

End of Year Funfair – A Time to Unwind and Celebrate

As 2019 drew to a close, families and friends gathered at the Rich and Famous Fest’s end-of-year fun fairs, creating a space where all ages could unwind. The atmosphere was electric, buzzing with excitement as children enjoyed carnival rides, games, face-painting booths and a gift from Santa, while adults indulged in the nostalgic fun of lifestyle, music, comedy and fairground delights.

What made the fun fair unique was the infusion of Warri’s local charm into every aspect. From craft vendors selling handmade souvenirs to local food stalls offering indigenous delicacies, the event was more than just a fair – it was an immersion into the culture of Delta State. The sense of community was palpable as people from different walks of life came together to share in the joy and celebration that capped off the year.

Trade Fair – Connecting Vendors, Showcasing Creativity

One of the most important features of the Rich and Famous Fest was its Trade Fair, which provided a platform for local businesses, artisans, and entrepreneurs to connect, showcase their products, and reach a wider audience. Mr. Jollof’s vision for the trade fair was clear: to offer vendors, particularly those from Warri and Delta State, a chance to shine beyond the borders of their immediate environment. The SME exhibition/Shopping Festival recorded a landslide success, as all the participants recorded massive sales and opportunities. Some entrepreneurs were placed on the map just from being present at the trade fair.

With over 100 booths, the trade fair was a vibrant marketplace where vendors displayed everything from fashion, beauty products, handcrafted jewelry, to innovative local crafts. It was an open arena where creativity thrived, and small businesses were given the spotlight they deserved. Warri’s vendors are known for their hustle and flair, and the trade fair allowed them to highlight their crafts, connect with potential partners, and expand their customer base.

The trade fair also served as a networking hub, where vendors exchanged ideas, formed collaborations, and even struck business deals. In a city like Warri, where entrepreneurship is a vital part of daily life, this opportunity was priceless. The festival successfully bridged the gap between culture and commerce, blending the spirit of the community with the drive to grow and thrive economically.

The Rich & Famous Party – A Night to Remember

True to its name, the Rich and Famous Fest was not complete without its epic party after party. Mr. Jollof, a renowned personality in the Nigerian entertainment scene, ensured that the nightlife aspect of the festival was unforgettable. The festival was capped off with a vibrant party that drew in the rich, famous, and fun-loving from all over Nigeria and even those in diaspora who had come home for the festivities.

With live performances from top Nigerian artists and DJs that kept the crowd dancing till dawn, and a glamorous red-carpet experience, the afterparty became the talk of the town. Attendees dressed to the nines in their most fashionable attire, and the atmosphere was alive with excitement and celebration.

The party was not just for the elite; it was for everyone. Warri’s unique blend of people – from the young entrepreneurs to the traditional elders – mingled together in a celebration that transcended class or status. The parties created a space where everyone could relax, connect, and celebrate the culture and people of Warri in the most authentic way.
